Teaching English outside the USA is becoming more and more of outmost importance. In most of the countries it is necessary to know at least one foreign language, so many people chose to learn English, as they consider it to be one of the easiest languages to learn and, of course, the most popular one. As the influence of English language is increasing, many new workplaces are being opened so that people from all offer the world can work in the USA, which means that teaching English outside the USA is not anymore a major problem.  Also, many teachers and professors of English language and literature from the USA or United Kingdom decided to move temporarily or permanently to some other country, so they could teach English as a foreign language there. Their work is of great importance for population all around the world because English has become one of the most expanded foreign languages everywhere.

Problems with pronunciation and syntax for English learners

From the experience of many teachers working with learners whose mother language is not English, one of their biggest problem is to teach them how to pronounce words correctly and English syntax rules. Of course, the size of this problems is not equal  for all foreign learners. For instance, it is much harder handle teaching English outside the USA to a person whose first language is Japanese, than a person who is a German. A Japanese would probably have more difficulties than a person whose first language is German, because German language has more similarity to English. Also, for some of the learners it can be difficult to understand and learn English tenses at first, since English irregular verbs must be learned by heart. So, because of this and many other problems, teaching English outside the USA can be a real challenge.

Difference between British and American English

Of course, it is well known that there is a difference between British and American English. They differ in accent, pronunciation and vocabulary. It is not a big surprise that even Americans and British population sometimes don’t understand the meaning of each other’s terms, and if you want to handle the task of teaching English outside the USA, you should keep that in mind. So, when teaching English to foreign learners it is advisable to teach them both of the English “versions“, so they could later manage to use English in any kind of situation. In that case, one of the version of English will probably be more represented, due to the better competence of that field of English language of a English teacher.
